Consent

The camera never starts until the candidate has read what the check does and agreed.

What the notice says

  • The camera checks they are a real person turning their head and compares their face with the photo on their ID.
  • The face check runs on their device. No photo or video leaves it.
  • Their ID number and the words of the name on it become one-way codes on the device.
  • Employers see whether the ID was checked, never the ID number or the face. A person confirms the ID before they show as verified.
  • The agreement also covers the same check at interview or on day one, for 12 months.
  • Head turn measurements are deleted after 30 days. The result is deleted 30 days after the 12-month check expires, or at once if consent is withdrawn. A first day check's face result is kept up to 3 years.

How it is recorded

Agreeing stores the notice's version and the time, before any capture, as Illinois BIPA and GDPR require for biometric data. Before a new verification, a consent older than an hour or given to an older notice has to be given again. The interview and day one checks run on the agreement on file for 12 months, if it is for today's notice and not withdrawn.

Sending an ID for a person to review has its own notice and its own consent. So does the work history check.

Saying no

A candidate who does not agree simply goes back. Nothing is captured, they can send their ID for a person to check instead, and they stay in the employer's pipeline unverified.

Withdrawing

From their portal, a candidate can withdraw consent at any time. Their identity record, check sessions, links and any ID waiting for review are deleted at once, and their verdicts are recalculated without them.
