At offer: work history

An optional check that the jobs a candidate claims are real, using free evidence rather than payroll data.

Turning it on

Owners, admins and recruiters can send it from the candidate's page. An owner or admin can also have it sent automatically whenever an offer is created. That setting is off by default.

The candidate gets a link that works without an account for 21 days, and can confirm up to 5 jobs.

Evidence the candidate can give

Work inbox code
A 6-digit code sent to their work address, valid 15 minutes, 5 tries. Personal and throwaway domains are refused. A domain only counts as a match once someone on your team confirms it belongs to that employer; until then it goes to a person.
Referee
A former manager or colleague confirms through their own link, valid 14 days. A referee who has vouched for 3 or more other people is treated as suspicious.
Document
A pay stub, W-2, P60 or employment letter, reviewed by a person and deleted when they decide, or after 30 days.
Address
The town is compared with the location given at apply.

The result

Consistent when every job is confirmed. Unconfirmed when some are not, which is context only. Needs review when something contradicts the claim or the address has changed, which sends the candidate to review.

Payroll checks are not available. Truework, Argyle and Pinwheel connectors exist only as stubs and are never called, so every work history check uses the free evidence above.
